A Life Lesson from Thai Traffic
I lived in Thailand for many years, and always marveled how well the traffic flows there—and how rarely you hear honking—despite the huge number of vehicles on the road, combined with the frequently creative interpretation of traffic rules. My visiting dad stated with conviction that if there were that many vehicles on the road in Germany (where he lives), the [...]

November 20, 2019I attended a 5-day yoga retreat led by Gernot in Chiang Dao. Gernot is a superb yoga teacher. He sent us a short simple questionnaire before the retreat and tailored... read more the yoga to our specific needs. Gernot is not the teacher to go to if you want better photos for your yoga Instagram feed or to achieve some impossible pose. He leads yoga that won’t injure you, that will help you improve alignment and posture, and will generally improve your wellbeing. His teaching is based an an incredible knowledge of physiology which he communicates really engagingly. He has spoilt me for other yoga teachers, who so often ask you to strive for poses that are not good for you. I will be using his extensive notes now (sent to us after the retreat) to help structure my personal p

I've looked forward to taking classes from Gernot over the past two years whenever I'm in Chiang Mai. His knowledge of anatomy and biological reasons behind certain yoga positions... read more and practices is very appealing to anyone who has a science background. There is a spiritual side to be sure, but I have never know any other yoga teacher with this unique perspective. I was very pleased to learn Gernot is offering online yoga classes during the pandemic, and I would urge any yogi to try his classes. Thank you Gernot for putting your clas

I am a regular student of Gernot's classes in Chiang Mai for the past 5 years or so and have attended 4 retreats and several of his specialized workshops as... read more well. He is simply one of the best yoga teachers out there and explores yoga as a mindfulness and breath-centered practice, which really speaks to me. He is incredibly knowledgable about anatomy and is very well-versed in yoga philosophies and teachings. I learn something new every class! I am so grateful that he has so quickly adapted to an online platform so we can continue practicing together. Thank yo

April 4, 2020Roving288846Every now and again one finds a sparkling diamond on the yoga scene - Gernot Huber is one of them! If you can find any way to take a class,... read more workshop, or online offering with this teacher, do yourself a big favor and jump at the chance. If you're looking to dive into the joy of breath, how to use your yoga practice to UNDO tension (not add to it with stressing over fancy poses), discover brilliant new ways of thinking about alignment, and finding ways to get rid of patterns that don't serve you? Then Gernot is a teacher you ought to be seriously looking into.

Gernot is an exceptional yoga teacher. He has a very thorough knowledge of anatomy and uses this to help his students practise safely and enjoyably. I have been... read more practising with him for 5 years and find that he continues to show us new aspects for improving our practise. Never boring! So happy that he is giving online classes during the coronavirus lockdown.
April 4, 2020colleenerinthorntonI signed up for private sessions with Gernot because I have some hip and low back issues that my personal yoga practice often aggravate. It's not a stretch to say... read more I learned more from three thorough sessions with him than I did in my yoga teacher training. And by "more", I mean all those subtle little biomechanical adjustments that make a massive difference.
Gernot has an incredible knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and it's so well integrated into his yoga knowledge. Step by step, we went through all of my "troubling" asanas and transitions that produce pain and tension, and even those sneaky ones that feel fine but aren't doing my body any favours. There are certain things (bad movement habits) I simply couldn't have known without his insight and expertise. And I can apply them to my practice with instant results.
My practice (and body) are forever improved thanks to his knowledge and guidance. I highly recommend Gernot's classes (I go to those too) as well as his one-on-one teaching. Amazing experience - thanks Gernot!
